The plus side of it all is that one of my pictures of the event was featured in the Huffington Post which I was thrilled about. Sadly of course the Carnival was touched by violence on the Monday so many of the newspapers were running policing related stories. The picture below was one that I took early Sunday morning as tension mounted between a participant in the opening paint fight and some motorcycle cops. Fortunately nothing came of the exchange but with some expressive language from the carnival goer, it was enough to make the Post.
Having spent all Sunday there, I elected to pass on the Monday, but what I did get that the less industrious might have missed is the opening paint fight of the Sunday, well, the end of it at least. I have to say though, as much as photographically I wanted to be in the middle of the action, I most certainly didn't want all that paint on my camera so decided discretion was the better part of valour and kept my distance. I learned a lot that day, but I'm pleased I didn't choose to learn the hard way.
